Trade marks unravelled

Trade marks unravelled

Europe
I was drafted in to lead my client's tender for their vast portfolio of trade marks. It proved to be one of the most fascinating pieces of work I have ever done.

The jargon and financials for trade marks are complicated and it can be exceptionally difficult to compare costs across rival suppliers. Furthermore, forecasting costs for trademarks can be dependent on a myriad of different variables.

Cracking this was a case of pure Frost grit as I painstakingly analysed every detail of the tender results and created a robust commercial model.  We also needed to pick the best provider from 5 runners. With some 15 stakeholders to align I navigated them to the best answer by presenting the options in a clear manner.

The biggest cost reduction came from specification challenge  - some marks were un-necessarily protected up to the gills. Some marks had inadequate protection and were at risk from external competitors, which we addressed promptly.

The Result?

The winning party has proved to be one of the best suppliers I have ever worked with.

They're brilliant at what they do and have become a trusted adviser to my client's Head of Legal. If you're looking for a trademark lawyer, I'd be delighted to recommend them to you.

I didn't need to leave the office for this adventure but I felt like I'd been on a journey well worth having.
