Peanut sourcing strategy
Argentina
Pip&Nut make the most insanely delicious peanut butter and snacks made from peanuts and almonds. Given their rapid growth, they wanted procurement expertise to step change their procurement capability and sourcing strategy as well as navigated through changes to their supply chain.
I was delighted when they asked for their help as it was a fantastic assignment and I love peanut butter!
To many, peanuts may seem like quite a straightforward product. But they're miles more complicated than this. The global crop is 50MT, with China and India the biggest growers but Argentina the key exporter. There are multiple varieties and many different specifications produced during processing. I created the full sourcing strategy wit detailed supply chain, supplier and cost analysis. I also organised and head the sourcing trip to Argentina as well as bought in specialist technical expertise to optimise the roasting process.
The Result?
We selected the best processors in Argentina, and through careful specification assessment made significant cost savings.
Supply Chain Director, Mari Haughey, shared: " Simon transformed our knowledge of the markets, suppliers and value chains involved and showed us the approach for top class procurement. Simon set the foundation for great relationships with future suppliers and was a pleasure to travel with on our origin scoping trip.
He leaves no stone unturned when it comes to fact finding in order to gather a robust view of cost drivers and identify opportunities to optimise supply".
