Global rice supply chain

This was the hardest, but most successful project I've done! Like many crops around the World, rice is susceptible to climate change. The variety used for Ben's Rice was really suffering...but the factories were optimised to use this particular variety for 30 years!

When the client contacted me asking for help, their opening words were: "We've had multiple experts and Big 4 Consultancies come in to fix this...but they couldn't. We think you're the only one who can crack it" The pressure was on!

Sounds easy doesn't it, especially if I was to tell you 800MT of rice are grown globally per annum. But the variety required had very tight specification constraints. the supply chain from from paddy field to packed on the shelf for consumers was complicated. And rice pouches are very price sensitive on the shelf. I was forensic in my approach researching varieties, quality, supply options, supply chains and commercials meticulously. And I bought in World expert agronomists and tasters to help ensure that changes we made ensured a consistently fantastic product for consumers.

The Result?

We made a major shift to the supply chain from one continent to another, averting a near certain disaster. It's fair to say the client was very happy!
